I am running because I am tired of watching politicians discuss tax increases while families wait 45 minutes for an ambulance. I have spent 26 years making payroll, fixing broken equipment, and solving problems with what I have. Our county has the resources. We just need someone willing to do the work. I am not a politician. After attending several commission meetings I became frustrated at the ineptitude of the commissioners. Their inability to get things done. Their lack of knowledge. Their inability to solve problems.
With so many issues going wrong in county government things are falling behind. I have the knowledge and ability to make real progress.
Taxes are high enough. There are plenty of ways to increase county revenue like: attracting industry, tourism and business development.
Current ambulance response time averages 45 minutes. Waits can exceed two hours. I will send volunteer firefighters to EMT school, utilize the backup ambulance, and equip rescue vehicles with portable medical equipment to get help to you faster.
Our jail is de-certified. The Commission, Mayor, and Sheriff failed to maintain it and only offered tax increase solutions. I will create a plan that studies all options and presents them to the public for the most effective solution.
Meigs County has experienced a population explosion, stressing our services. I will limit population growth, increase industry, and make it easier to do business here. I support urgent cares, factories, and tourist amenities. No big box stores. Keep our small town charm.
Drainage maintenance is behind schedule, especially in downtown Ten Mile where state repairs have been delayed for years. I will document these failures, communicate with departments, and open the door for legislative action to speed up the process.
